The Requirements Traceability Matrix or RTM is used to track the requirement status all throughout the project lifecycle.
An RTM serves as a document that links the requirements specified in the project to the design, development, testing, and deployment stages of the project. It also tracks the relationship between requirements and other project artifacts, such as design documents, test cases, and deliverables. It ensures that all requirements are tracked and met throughout the project’s lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment.
This is also helpful when checking the dependencies, checking the impact of change request and to avoid scope creep by ensuring that the requirement maps back to the objectives.
