Business analysts and Data analysts both play important roles in organizations.

Data Analyst
On the other hand, data analysts are more focused on analyzing reports, numerical data and uncovering patterns and trends within it.
They use a variety of tools and techniques to uncover insights that can be used to inform decisions, analyze data, such as machine learning, predictive analytics, and data mining.
They have technical knowledge on database and business intelligence applications like SQL, Power BI.
Data analysts are also responsible for developing algorithms and predictive models to help forecast future outcomes. They often work with large datasets and use their findings to develop predictive models or other sophisticated solutions.
Data Analyst is more focused on the technical aspects of data and analytics. They use data to understand how the organization is performing and to identify areas of improvement.
Conclusion: Business Analyst vs Data Analyst
While there are some overlaps between the two roles, the main difference is that business analysts tend to look at the bigger picture, while data analysts focus on the details, and they have more technical role. Business Analysts focus on improving business processes, while Data Analysts focus on understanding data.
In some organization, if there is no Data Analyst role in the project, the Business Analyst may do the role of Data Analyst especially if the Business Analyst have some data technical skills like if they know how to write queries in SQL or Power BI for example.
